Presented by All Souls Episcopal & Messiah Lutheran

At this year’s ***FREE*** VBS, Hero Central, your child will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time as they discover their strength in God. They will hear how we are to become heroes through our shared faith; exploring God’s mission for their lives and how to serve both God and neighbor. Our program offers groups for all ages: pre-k/kindergarten, elementary ages (Grade 1-5), and an adult Bible study. (Junior high youth and adults are also needed as volunteers to support the event.) The event will be held July 31-August 3, 2017 (5:30 pm – 8:00 pm).

Each night, we begin with a free meal for the family or child (optional) at 5:30 pm. After a high-energy opening assembly at Hero Central (learning Bible stories and songs at about 6:15 pm), our young Heroes will make their way through stations for games and crafts/activities. We will then regather to review the day and what we’ve learned with lots of laughter and fun along the way. Each night ends no later than 8:00 pm. (Parents are asked to come for child pick up by 7:45 pm.)

This year, our Vacation Bible School will also coincide with our annual neighborhood celebration of National Night Out. We will have local heroes from the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and Hanover Fire Department stop by with equipment and vehicles to greet our participants, families and neighbors on Tuesday, August 1. There will be free food (hot dogs, chips, drinks and treats in lieu of our regular meal), a superhero themed bounce house, games, activities and prizes. We just might even get a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog! This will all happen during our meal and opening ceremony time on that day only. (National Night Out activities will run from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm during our normal dinner and opening times. Our VBS participants will depart to follow their regular schedule of circuits for games, crafts/activities, and our closing gathering.)

Don’t want to miss any of the fun? We invite you to serve as an adult escort to our small groups or volunteer for set-up, tear-down, or other leadership/team roles. Contact our office if available even for just one night. We would appreciate it!
We hope you will join us! Adults do not need to register. For youth, please download and submit this form prior to July 27, 2017. (For safety, our spots for participation are limited, so don’t delay!)
