Who We Are
About Our Church
We are a community who is welcomes the newcomer, enjoys spending time together - playing, laughing and learning, and works to help those who are struggling in this life. We believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God. We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We work to see the image of God in all people and to live The Way of Love, as taught by the life Jesus lived.
About the People
All Souls Episcopal Church, in Mechanicsville, is a community with a diversity in thought and past religious experience. We are a smaller church, which makes it easy to become a member of our community. We offer opportunities for folks to find a place - even new folks - into our church. We do this by enlisting them in ways to help and contribute as people feel comfortable. You are welcome to come only on Sunday mornings to worship but we highly recommend you do more in order to get more of what All Souls can provide for you.
About Our Vicar
Our priest at All Souls is The Rev. Katherine Dougherty. She joined us in July of 2017. Katherine was born and raised in Virginia and in the Episcopal Church. Prior to being ordained, she taught in both public and private schools. Katherine received her M.Div from The School of Theology at The University of the South, Sewanee and was ordained in 2017.
Katherine is a collaborative leader, who enjoys working with others to imagine and create ways of spreading God's love for everyone. Her vision for ministry is to encourage and empower folks to actively engage with the God who created them and loves them dearly and to share that love with others.
In her off hours, Katherine enjoys being outside - in the mountains, on the water or spending time with family and friends. She loves to laugh and play. She is also thankful to be called by God and the people of All Souls Episcopal Church to walk this journey we call faith. Email her at: revkdougherty@gmail.com
